Do-Over (aka Mulligan)

Okay, so social media is now imitating life.

I've decided on a complete remake for the blog. In sports terms it's called a mulligan, of which I've had my fair share over the years playing very mediocre golf. In the real world, it's called a do-over. The following photo and caption taken from my personal Facebook page a couple years ago might explain further:
The old man flanked by the originals and the do-overs...fishing for anything that won't swim upstream!
In the case of this social media thing, it didn't come as any great epiphany or anything. I didn't wake up in the middle of the night with a vision. It was more like the accrued realization after several months (two seasons to be exact) of posting what was originally intended to be a blog about the broadcast booth of the Texas Tech football radio crew, from members (notice plural) of the radio crew. Instead, it became a blog from me about Tech football experiences, as well as some other oddities like concert reviews, etc. Along the way I learned a valuable lesson... fortunately from the experiences of others... blogs and other social media can be very dangerous if you're writing opinions about something that your boss may have passionate feelings for. At least if you want to keep working. Freedom of speech can go a long way to making one free. Of income.

So, here we are. The do-over.

From this point forward The Broadcast Booth will be a blog about whatever, whenever. Nothing specific. Most of it probably wouldn't be worth broadcasting from any other booth anywhere. But, hopefully, it will be entertaining to some, informative to a few, and therapeutic to at least one.
